A seminar was organized on “Journey from BPO to KPO” on the eve of 6th Annual Day Function of AIAIMS in the evening of 18th February 2006 at Anjuman-I-Islam’s MHSS Dr. Alma Latifi Hall at Byculla, Mumbai.

Mr. Venugopal Iyengar, Director, IOTM, President, ISACA, Mumbai Chapter, Mr. Anwer Bagdadi, Vice President and CTO Countrywide BPO and Mr. Subir Bhatnagar, Vice President, M/s 3D Network, spoke on the occasion.

Mr. Iyengar highlighted the Benefits of Infotech Revolution and its usefulness to the general public and the industry. Mr. Bagdadi emphasized on Accelerating BPO Services by leveraging the technological infrastructure advantage. Mr. Subir Bhatnagar spoke on India’s movement from BPO Services to KPO Services by moving up the value chain and he emphasized that Knowledge Process Outsourcing (KPO) as tremendous scope in the years to come.

Dr. A.K. Sengupta, Director, SIES Institute of Management Studies, Nerul, who was the Chief Guest on the occasion expressed his deep concern for outsourcing industry. He highlighted the negative aspects and stressed that India should not only concentrate on BPOs but should also concentrate in the areas of manufacturing processes and the agriculture.

The event was presided over by Mr. A. M. Hetavkar, Mr. Sami Khatib President, Anjuman-I-Islam responded to the issues brought out by the above speakers and highlighted the potential that the pharma and bio industry has in India for availing opportunities of Knowledge process Outsourcing (KPO) in the area of bio technology.
