AIAIMS organized cogency 2009 an Inter B School Business quiz competition on 7th and 8th October 2009 for the Medley Rolling Trophy. The students from different B Schools participated in the event. The program had an overwhelming response from these B Schools. The teams which participated were Mittal Institute of Management studies, Atharva institute of Management studies, Pillai’s Institute of Management studies, SIES college of Management, Burhani Institute of Management, Chetana Institute of Management studies, Guru Nanak Institute of Management studies.

The event was well organized, in terms of the questions asked for the quizzes. the questions were asked from a gamut of management subjects i.e. Marketing, Finance, HR, IT & Operations. The quizzers were quick-witted, chirpy and they enthralled the participants and audience. The hospitality provided was excellent. It was a tough fight for the teams, SIES College of Management and Mittal Institute of Management entered the finals after defeating Burhanis and Atharva’s respectively.

The winners of the Cogency 2009 was SIES College of Management for the Medley Rolling Trophy and a Prize Money of Rs. 10,000/- and the Runner up were Mittal Institute of Management with a prize money of Rs. 7,000/-

The presence of eminent personalities both from industry and academia appreciated the efforts put in for organizing the event.  The President of Anjuman-I-Islam Mr. Sami Khatib presided over the function and the chief guest for the event was Mr. Dhananjay Dhawad Secretary, PWD Govt of Maharashtra.  The other dignitaries present for the prize distribution were Mr. Abbas Hetavkar Sr. Vice President A.I, Mr. Aqeel Hafeez Jt. Secretary A.I Adv. Umer Qazi. Executive Chairman, Board for Professional Studies and Mr. R. M. Chaturvedi GM, MTNL.

Overall the event was a grand success.

Anjuman-I-Islam’s Allana Institute of Management Studies celebrated their yearly inter -collegiate event “Cogency” 2011. The event was celebrated between   17th – 19th February 2011.  Variety of events were organized which focused on grasp of core subjects, awareness of current affairs, general knowledge, creativity and innovations.

The business quiz consisted of questions with multiple choices from core subjects, current affairs, general knowledge, business communication etc.  Bharati Vidyapeeth’s Institute of Management Studies & Research won the Business Quiz and Guru Nanak Institute of Management Studies were the runners up.

The highlight of the event was Idea Generation; wherein the participating colleges had to illustrate an idea of a start up firm besides capital investment, operation plan, sales and marketing, expansion and return on investment. The judging panel consisted of lawyer, chartered accountant, an entrepreneur, a banker, a marketing consultant, a visual merchandiser and a newspaper editor.  Viva Institute of Technology won the event and Viva Institute of Management Studies was the runners up.

The Ad-Mad show focused upon creating instant advertisement for generic products. It also had another item of radio jingles. The participants were given famous radio jingles which they had modify by changing the lyrics and tunes.  Aruna Manharlal Shah Institute of Management & Research won the event and SIES College of Management Studies was the runners up.

Box Cricket attracted many participating colleges. Humera Khan Institute of Management Studies& Research won the event and Aruna Manharlal Shah Institute of Management & Research were the runners up.

The event was inaugurated by the President of Anjuman-I-Islam Dr. Zahir Kazi. In his inaugural address he emphasized on practical orientation of the syllabus by having such events more often to groom and create team spirit among the students.

Allanasons Ltd was the main sponsors for the event while Corporation Bank, Free Press Journal, Corporate India, Prime Finvest & Leasing Ltd, Twincity Technologies (India) Pvt Ltd, Nexgen Marketing and Chaya Enterprises were the co sponsors.

The three days event was a great success. Cogency not only tested the knowledge and efficiency of budding managers but also witnessed lot advice coming from the experienced and mature jury members who were professionals from both industry and academia.
