Breaking down barriers of religion, cast & creed thousands of children, their parents, teachers and the management members of Anjuman-I-Islam (one of the premier 135 years old educational conglomerate established in the year 1874 run by Muslim community) undertook a peace rally on the of Republic Day Monday, 26th January 2009 in Mumbai. Various institutions under the umbrella of Anjuman such as the primary and secondary schools, all colleges and professional institutions participated in the rally. The founding fathers, later on people who managed and the present members managing the affairs of Anjuman are nationalists, educationists and freedom fighters. Anjuman has a track record of serving the nation in times of crisis.
They walked the rally from ATS office, Byculla taking a route from J.J. Hospital where the dead and wounded were brought and passing through main areas, then to Commissioner of Police, Cama Hospital and CST where maximum innocent people died.
The central theme of the peace rally was “Terrorism is no mannerism of mankind”. The attack on innocent people was condemned.
In the run-up to the procession, the students paid homage to the citizens, including security personnel, who lost their lives in the attack. They offered prayers to the Almighty seeking help and give solace to the relatives of the hundred of innocent people who passed away in the carnage and those who are yet to recover from the mental and physical wounds.
Approximate 25,000 young boys and girls demonstrated model behaviour, good conduct and are a symbol of secularism and national integrity. They denounced all forms of terrorism and represented patriotism and duty to the nation.
This peace rally expresses our gratitude to the sacrifice of the security personnel who risked their lives in saving Mumbai city from terrorists.
