Workshop organized for Librarians & Library Staff on Integrating Library Resources with Teaching Learning Process in Higher Education on 20th June 2009.

Workshop for librarians and library staff in association with Higher Education Forum A half day workshop was organized in association with Higher Education Forum under the banner of skill development program series for the librarians and library staff on “Integrating library resources with teaching learning process in higher education”. The workshop was organized on the 20th June 2009 at Anjuman-I-Islam’s Ahmed Zakaria auditorium. The workshop was attended by participants who came from various technical Institutions of Maharashtra. Participants even came from Nanded and Pune. Ms. Parvathy Venkateshwaran – Reference Librarian of America Library was the speaker.
 
The objectives of the workshop were as follows:
Brainstorm various strategic and operational issues facing library staff.
To develop an understanding of changing role of librarian to get equipped with Requisite skill / attitude.
To become a partner in teaching learning process.
To manage resources better.
Highlighting of soft skills.
Integrating technology with library processes.
Sharing of best practices.
Advocacy for library scouting volunteers and continuing education.
 
The above objectives were met very well due to interactive session. The participants interacted freely with each other. Prof. Dr. S.C.Ghai – Director, SIMSR and Prof. Dr. Vidya Hattangadi were the conveners for the workshop. They shared their view points with the librarians as academicians. Overall the workshop created a good impact on the participants. Lots of doubts and objectives were clarified due to this workshop. The participants were provided with lot of reading material.
